Position Details
Position: Environmental Services Manager
Department: Environmental Services
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - and weekends/evenings as needed.
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Position Purpose: Directs and administers the environmental services/laundry program and personnel to maintain the hospital and all on-campus facilities in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Strive for continuous improvement to ensure all on-campus facilities are maintained at the highest level for our staff and community.
- Trains, observes, directs and evaluates staff in the satisfactory completion of assigned tasks.
- Prepares work schedules for staff and monitors absences and time-off requests.
- Conducts daily inspections and assessments to ensure that standards are being met. Coach and counsel team members when improvements can be implemented.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, equipment and laundry/linen.
- Communicate with department, facility, and company leadership to achieve goals.
- Performs and/or assists with cleaning duties on a regular basis.
- Schedules oneself to work as an Environmental Service Technician several shifts per pay period and fills in for absences, vacations, etc.
Education: High School Diploma (higher education preferred)
Preferred Certification: CHESP (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional) certification
Experience: Minimum of five-years of housekeeping experience in hospital/healthcare setting, with at least 3 years of management experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to monitor departmental operating budget, overtime and FTE’s while making changes to improve departmental operational performance when warranted and working within budget constraints.
- Ability to lead and manage staff in a professional manner.
- Computer skills in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent written, verbal skills and critical thinking skills.
- High level of concentration, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing or pulling.
- Ability to adhere to hospital’s values and standards of behavior (REACH – Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion and Helping Support Others).
