Position Details - Sign-On Bonus Eligible

 

Status: Full-time (36-40 hours/week)

 

Shift: Primarily three 12-hour shifts, 7:00pm – 7:00am

Position Purpose: Performs the primary functions of a RN in effectively assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients in the department during his/her shift. Is responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, for managing all assigned patients, supplies, and equipment in the specific department, and for promoting team work with physicians and other departments. Delegates nursing activities to other members of the healthcare team. Provides a variety of patient care including but not limited to Foley catheters, NG feeding tubes, Ostomy care, blood glucose testing, ketone testing, respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, wound care, and IV therapy. Is also responsible for educating patients and families on discharge instructions, using age appropriate language and instructions. Employee will have the opportunity to cross-train to other nursing areas such as Emergency Department, Imaging Department and Surgery.

Education: Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited school of Nursing

Licensure: Current and Valid Registered Nurse licensure with the IDPR

Certification: ACLS and CPR trained through American Heart Association; PALS certification may be required

Prior Experience: One (1) year acute care nursing experience preferred but will do on the job training.

Proficiencies: Computer skills

Skills and Abilities: Good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology.
