Position Details

 

Shift: Day shift; Will be added to IT department on-call rotation.                           

 

Status: Full-time, hourly

 

Position Purpose: Providing assistance/support to staff utilizing a wide variety of software applications in a complex PC/Internet Server environment.  Responds to inquiries and requests for assistance w/ the hospital’s computer systems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users.  Installs and supports various computer equipment and software.  Performs basic diagnostic testing. 

 

Additional: The Information Technician will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.  Extensive time in front of computer.  The Information Technician will have to do some lifting of computer equipment, supplies and materials from time to time.  Usually works regular business hours, but sometimes may have to work irregular or long hours, and be on call.  Works in a comfortable, air conditioned office setting. Position requires IT Technician to kneel, reach, push, pull, lift for sustained periods of time.

 

Education: Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems for Business or a related field.  A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.

 

Prior Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience with increasing responsibilities for management and support of healthcare information systems and information technology preferred.  Experience in healthcare setting is desirable, specifically in technology and information systems planning.  Experience should also include exposure to both shared and external contracting solutions, as well as support of cloud, in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site, client-server environment.

 

Proficiencies: Experience with desktop, mobile, and server computer hardware.  Familiarity with local and wide area network design, implementation and operation. Familiarity with cloud services (such as AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)  Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux.  Familiarity with computer peripherals such as printers, monitors, modems, etc.

 

Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.  Effective verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills, for coordination and education.  Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict.  Self-motivator, very independent, cooperative, flexible and creative.

 

Knowledge: Knowledge of office software programs such as word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs, and communications software.
