Position Details
Status: PRN, Hourly
Shift Information: Day Shift
Position Purpose: Supervises the pharmacy technicians while providing coverage for the Pharmacy Manager. Accountable for managing the activities of the technician staff. Work requires strong clinical skills, detailed knowledge of hospital processes/operations, and the application of state regulations. Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration and drug therapy monitoring. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate, and works with relating medical staff to find alternatives when needed, to ensure the best care possible is being given.
Education: Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. Degree from an accredited university required.
Licensure: Current license for Registered Pharmacist, State of Illinois
Prior Experience: 3-5 years of experience preferred.
Proficiencies: Computer skills
Skills and Abilities: Good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology; basic computer skills.
Knowledge: Knowledge of the physical and chemical properties and characteristics of substances, and therapeutic actions of drugs; knowledge of clinical information and ability to apply such information to the provision of quality patient and pharmaceutical care; ability to communicate with patients regarding the proper administration, use, actions, precautions, and storage of medications; ability to communicate with fellow health professionals regarding patient care and pharmaceutical information and intervention.
