Position Details

 

SHIFT: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

 

 STATUS: Part-time or Full-time

 

POSITION PURPOSE: Provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the policy and procedures of the hospital and Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Nursing care includes assessing, plan of care, implementing, and evaluation of patient care. Assist with providing education to patient/family/significant others. Provides a variety of patient care including but not limited to Foley catheters, NG feeding tubes, Ostomy care, blood glucose testing, oxygen therapy, wound care, and IV therapy. Is also responsible for educating patients and families on discharge instructions, using age appropriate language and instructions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


1. EDUCATION: Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from an accredited school of Nursing; 2. IV certification must be an approved IV therapy course; 3. Continuing education, completion of competencies and orientation as mandated or required for position.

 

2. LICENSURE: Licensed Practical Nursing licensure with the IDPR (current & valid)

 

3. CERTIFICATION: CPR trained through American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Training.

 

4. PRIOR EXPERIENCE: One (1) year acute care nursing experience preferred but will do on the job training.

 

5. PROFICIENCIES: Computer skills; EMR

 

6. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology; basic computer skills.

 

7. KNOWLEDGE OF: LPN job duties as related to regular day to day activities.

 

8. SPECIAL TRAINING: NIMS

 

Wage Rate Range:      $ 22.25/hr – 26.58/hr, based on experience and specific experience
