Position Summary: Pinckneyville Community Hospital’s Radiology Department is seeking a dedicated, reliable Nuclear Medicine Technologist. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our dynamic team, supporting patient care and providing vital imaging services during the overnight hours.
Position Purpose: Provides technical skills involving nuclear medicine, radiology, and fluoroscopy; takes and develops radiographs of various parts of the body to assist physicians in the detection of foreign bodies and diagnosis of disease or injury. Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates competency by providing the highest diagnostic quality images for the Radiologist to interpret. Transmits images to Radiologist using teleradiography and PACS technology when indicated. Follows standards as indicated in the policy and procedure manual.
- Provides patient teaching information prior to the imaging study. Explain the test to the patient. Instructs and assists patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
- Verifies that medical necessity of procedure has been established prior to injection or exposure of patient. Verifies that patient preparations are adequate prior to the beginning of the study.
- Submits requested reports on time.
- Prepares patients for procedures, including taking an accurate medical history and answering any questions about the procedure. Positions the patients and equipment in the proper location needed to get a correct image. Precisely follows orders from physicians on what areas of the body to image.
- Ensures accuracy of scan results by performing all quality control functions recommended by the ACR and State of Illinois. Performs all quality control checks as prescribed and maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
- Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; utilizing safety precautions to minimize hazards; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instruction. Responsible for the safe handling, maintenance, and operation of equipment. Helps maintain departmental equipment and assists in cleaning the department, except for those duties pertaining directly to Environmental Services personnel.
- Maintains accurate documentation for the annual MQSA Inspection and the triennial ACR/FDS accreditation.
- Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations.
- Ensures all images are labeled with correct patient name, information, and markers.
- Perform routine and emergency imaging, ensuring high-quality diagnostic results for all patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive, compassionate care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to hospital policies and radiology protocols.
Requirements:
- State of Illinois IEMA Active Accreditation - Radiography required
- State of Illinois IEMA Active Accreditation – Nuclear Medicine Required
- ARRT Certified Registered Technologist (R) Radiography required
- ARRT Certified Registered Technologist (CT) Computed Tomography preferred.
- CPR Certification (Will allow 1 year after hire date to obtain)
- 1-2 years of healthcare experience preferred

Education: High school graduate or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Radiology Technology; Graduate of Nuclear Medicine Technology Certificate Program.
Proficiencies: Proficient in the use of radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent customer service, critical thinking, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to record, process and maintain patient data or treatment records and prepare reports. Ability to take thorough and accurate patient medical histories. Ability to properly position and immobilize patients on examining table.
Knowledge: Knowledge of and ability to operate general radiological equipment, fluoroscopic equipment, C-arm, portable x-ray equipment, teleradiology equipment and film processors safely and according to standards.
Other: Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing, or pulling. Maintain all necessary continuing education required to maintain licensures.
Wage Rate Range: $34.25/HR - $44.96/HR, based on experience.
