Five area children recently completed the Kindergarten Readiness Program hosted by Southern Illinois Rehabilitation at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

The workshop was designed for children to participate in activities that worked on the various skills they will be expected to perform when entering Kindergarten. The workshop was filled with "activities focusing on fine and gross motor skills, following directions, handwriting, letter and number recognition, and sight word recognition," explains Beth Forsberg, Speech Therapist. "We used fun activities and games incorporating review of these skills."

The Kindergarten Readiness program is an annual program developed by the Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy programs at Southern Illinois Rehabilitation.
