Position Details

 

Position: Hospitalist / Nurse Practitioner

 

Department:  Acute Care

 

Status: PRN - as needed

 

Shift: 10-hour shifts; seven days on / seven days off


Position Purpose: Responsible for providing direct patient care and supervising care of patients admitted to the Hospital service.  Provides direct patient care for a variety of patient diagnoses utilizing evidence-based practice.  Responsible for prompt recognition of acute change in patient status necessitating emergent changes in plan of care.  Patient care includes daily rounds with physicians, performing detailed history and physicals on admission, diagnosing and treating patient with current scope of care, collaborating and consulting multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care and outcomes.  Will work closely with ancillary departments to ensure appropriate and timely work up and disposition of all patients.  Provide comprehensive discharge plan to facilitate proper transition care.  Serves as both role model and resource to nursing staff.  Provides ongoing staff education as needed.  Provides patient education on ongoing basis.  Serves as liaison between ED physicians, specialists and primary care physicians to coordinate patient care services in order to optimize patient care and maximize utilization of resources
 

Requirements: 

Education: Master’s degree in nursing from a college or university accredited for Advance Practice Nursing

 

Licensure: Current and valid IL Advanced Practice Nurse License with IDPR,  Eligible for DEA

 

Certification:  CPR, ACLS and PALS trained through American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Training.

 

Experience: One (1) year nurse practictioner experience required.

 

Proficiencies: Computer skills; electronic medical records

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Motor coordination to work with equipment
  • Ability to understand oral/written instructions
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Must be comfortable working with patients of all ages

 

Wage Rate Range:  $45.00/HR - $52.50/HR, based on experience and specific position.
