Medical Chaperone Program

At Pinckneyville Community Hospital, patient dignity, comfort and safety are our highest priorities.  To support these values, we provide medical chaperones for sensitive medical examinations, procedures and aspects of care.

A medical chaperone is a trained member of our care team who is present during certain examinations or treatments to:

  • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients.
  • Support clear communication between the patient and healthcare provider.
  • Serve as an additional safeguard for patient diginity, privacy and safety.

When are chaperones offered?

Chaperones are routinely offered for sensitive exams or procedures, such as those involving the breast, pelvic, genital, or rectal areas, as well as in situations where a patient may feel vulnerable.  Patients may also request a chaperone at any time, regardless of the type of care they are receiving.

Your choice matters.

If you would like a chaperone present, please let your provider or a member of our care team know.  Our staff will be happy to arrange this for you.

At Pinckneyville Community Hospital, we are committed to fostering an environment where every patient feels respected, supported and safe.
