Pinckneyville Community Hospital Now Offering Pediatric Echocardiography Services

March 11, 2026

Pinckneyville Community Hospital (PCH) is pleased to announce the addition of pediatric echocardiography (PEDS Echo) services within its Imaging Department, expanding access to specialized heart imaging for children and teens in the community.

A pediatric echocardiogram is a non-invasive ultrasound test that uses sound waves to create detailed images of the heart. This exam helps physicians evaluate heart structure and function, diagnose potential heart conditions, and monitor ongoing cardiac concerns — all without radiation or discomfort.

At this time, pediatric echocardiography services are available for patients approximately 12 to 17 years of age who weigh at least 85 pounds, based on current equipment capabilities and imaging protocols. This service is being introduced through a phased, quality-focused approach to ensure the highest level of diagnostic accuracy and patient care.

All pediatric echocardiograms performed at PCH will be interpreted by specialists at SIU School of Medicine and SIU Medicine Pediatrics, providing expert pediatric cardiology oversight and ensuring families receive trusted, specialized evaluation close to home.

“This new service reflects our continued commitment to expanding access to high-quality care for our community,” said Randall Dauby, Chief Executive Officer, “By offering pediatric echocardiography locally, we are helping families receive important heart evaluations closer to home while maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence.”

By bringing pediatric echocardiography services to PCH, families now have more convenient access to essential cardiac imaging, reducing travel time and enhancing continuity of care.
