Patient Instructions

When you arrive, enter through the main lobby and follow the signage to the Hospital Registration Department. After you've registered, proceed to the laboratory reception area, located just past the registration desks. The individual at the window will gladly help you. If no one is available at the window, please pick up the phone for assistance. If staff is helping patients in the Emergency Room/Acute Care, a sign will be posted and they will be with you as soon as possible. Please be sure to bring the lab test order if the doctor has given it to you, as the lab cannot process tests without orders. If you are having a drug screen collected, you will also need a photo ID.

Fasting

Some laboratory tests require fasting. The laboratory defines fasting as no food or drink (including coffee, soda, candy, gum, and mints) or smoking for 10-12 hours before the blood is drawn. Patients may drink water and take medication, unless their physician has told them otherwise. Patients with questions about their fasting regimen may call the lab at 357-8800.
